Project Title: Youth And Young Adults Entrepreneurship (YAYA) Program
Project Description:

The Youth And Young Adult (YAYA) Entrepreneurship Program is an extended component of the organization’s premier program, the Youth Making Economic Impacts (YMEI, pronounced Why Me) Program. As with all past youth projects and programs, YAYA-EP was specifically created and designed to empower participants to develop entrepreneurial mindsets, acquire practical leadership skills, utilize available community resources, and overcome socio-economic barriers, which ultimately fosters their long-term success and contributes to the growth and resilience of their respective communities.

The program term is twelve months, beginning January 6, 2025, and ending December 31, 2025. The twelve-month term includes two months of recruitment and planning, an eight-month training and mentoring component, and two months for program close-out, final evaluations, and reporting.

The program will serve a combination of twelve youth and young adults, ages 11 to 21, who’ve already begun their journey as entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, sole proprietors, independent contractors, or self-employed individuals, or who have an interest in becoming one of these business entities.

(YAYA-EP) will also serve a diverse group of twelve registered small business owners, which include a combination of sole proprietors, self-employed individuals, independent contractors, entrepreneurs, or solopreneurs who reside and/or conduct business in the disadvantaged and underserved Front Porch and Midtown communities of southern St. Petersburg, Florida. These communities, which include zip codes 33701, 33705, 33711, and 33712, are also well known for high levels of poverty, unemployment, crime, and illiteracy.

Each youth-young adult participant will be paired with a business mentor throughout the entire eight-month training period to accomplish the goals and objectives of the program.

The Program Coordinator will oversee the program as well as be responsible for assigning the twelve business mentors to their designated youth-young adult participants based on ALL participants responses to an initial required assessment taken upon receiving approval to participate in the program.
