Project Title: New Harmony High School General Operations
Project Description:

New Harmony High School is a free, public, open-enrollment charter high school located in New Orleans, New Harmony is uniquely positioned to transform the lives of Louisiana students. By preparing students for graduation, college, and beyond through the lens of coastal restoration and preservation, the school not only equips them with essential academic skills but also instills in them a sense of environmental stewardship and community engagement.

New Harmony’s project and problem-based learning approach, coupled with community mentorship, allows students to experience relevant fellowships and develop a deep understanding of their interests and passions. By empowering students as change agents in the mission of coastal restoration, the school cultivates a sense of purpose and agency in its students, enabling them to shape the future of their communities and the lives of future generations.

Furthermore, New Harmony’s proprietary curriculum and proven project management techniques ensure that students graduate as diverse, informed, and engaged problem solvers, rooted in their communities and driven by a broader social and environmental context. By supporting New Harmony, the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation can play a pivotal role in nurturing a new generation of leaders who are committed to positive change and sustainable development in Louisiana.

With the foundation’s generous funding of up to $10,000 for nonprofit organizations involved in education, New Harmony High School will be able to further enhance its programs, expand its community outreach, and continue empowering students to make a tangible impact on the world around them. Through their support, the foundation will not only invest in the education of young adults but also contribute to the long-term well-being and resilience of Louisiana’s coastal communities.
