Project Title: Film Appreciation Academy Conference
Project Description:

Overview
The Flint Youth Film Festival and Film Appreciation Academy Conference are hallmark youth programs of iMichigan Productions, an educational and documentary company in Flint, MI. Both are instrumental in sparking creativity, nurturing critical thinking, and cultivating a vibrant film community here.

iMP’s Flint Youth Film Festival (FYFF) is a dynamic platform for filmmakers ages 13-25. It’s goal: to educate, celebrate, and support young filmmakers. It encourages entries that explore themes, styles, and perspectives. Our goal: to empower young voices through the art of film. Participants receive feedback from national experts and develop their storytelling skills. It is a four-day event hosted is a historic Flint theater and draws 600 entries a year.

The Film Appreciation Academy (FAA) online and its annual live day-long conference open doors to the filmmaking world, offering immersive experiences, workshops, conferences, and internships. Led by industry experts and renowned filmmakers, FAA delves into every facet of filmmaking. Film festival winners participate in panel discussions sharing their experiences with FAA participants. We hope to empower 200 students to submit film entries.

The FAA’s online workshops give film lovers and future filmmakers an opportunity to sharpen their critical eye and highlight issues important to them. They probe and discuss six films’ impact personally, learning techniques for understanding and dissecting films, and understanding their lessons for life, in this supportive setting.

This project aligns with your commitment to supporting arts education, youth development, and community engagement. Your support will have a lasting impact on the lives of Flint youth and beyond.
