Project Title: Mental Health, Mentorship, and DANCE
Project Description:

This project will address the current mental health needs of youth utilizing dance as therapy. To address these needs, we will conduct several "Dance Therapy Workshops" using movement as a means of emotional release. A Dance Therapist will be contracted to conduct the workshops. The sessions will combine the elements of dance and therapy principles to promote emotional, physical, and mental well-being. This form of expressive therapy uses movement and dance as a means of communication and self-discovery, allowing the youth to explore and process their emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a supportive environment.

In addition to the workshops, we will assign mentors that will meet with our youth in person, weekly providing a space where there is accountability and constant communication. These mentors will also be available for calls and virtual meetings in addition to the in person meets. The goal is to improve the overall mental health of our youth, evidenced by a change in behavior, how they communicate, what they communicate, and their actions.

Our goal through the project is to see better social connection and communication skills, improved emotional expression, and enhanced self esteem and confidence.
