Project Description:
Hope House of Arizona is a community-based organization that serves as a safe-haven and place of hope for youth in foster care, youth who have aged out of foster care, and youth experiencing homelessness due to unforeseen family circumstances. It was born out of a passion and love for youth in foster care and is committed to being a “Bridge of Hope” to ensure that every youth that ages out of foster care has a safe place to call home, a healthy network of support, and supportive services to help them achieve self-sufficiency and life-long independence. The mission of Hope House of Arizona is to educate, empower, encourage, and equip former foster youth with the skills, resources, & tools necessary for a successful transition to adulthood.
Hope House of Arizona believes that education is the key to success and is committed to ensuring every former foster youth achieves academic success. A.I.M. High Educational Support Services are designed to provide academic support & enrichment, while promoting academic excellence and inspiring a lifelong love for learning. Youth are encouraged to embrace high standards and set high goals. The goal of A.I.M. High Educational Support Services is to address the challenges and barriers that youth face in achieving academic success by building critical thinking skills and helping them understand their different learning styles. Academic support includes tutoring, with an emphasis on literacy, reading improvement, and math enrichment. Test preparation for the SAT, ACT, GED and ASVAB are available. Assistance obtaining high school diplomas and enrolling in post-secondary education or vocational training programs is also provided.
Additionally, workshops are offered that cover topics such as goal setting, decision making & problem solving, and organization & time management. Our financial literacy course “Common C.E.N.T.S” teaches youth about credit, income, taxes, and savings.
