Project Title: Real Talk Podcast – Eosinophilic Education
Project Description:
The American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders (APFED), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2001, is dedicated to passionately embracing, supporting, and improving the lives of patients and families affected by eosinophil-associated disorders through education, awareness, research, support, and advocacy. Eosinophilic (EOS) disorders display unusually high white blood cell counts and can lead to various symptoms, misdiagnoses, and delayed treatments due to challenges in diagnosing and their diverse manifestations. The community’s need for educational podcasts about eosinophilic disorders stems from a lack of awareness and understanding surrounding these often complex and relatively rare conditions.
In July 2021, APFED successfully launched the podcast series "Real Talk: Eosinophilic Diseases," which has quickly become a valuable educational resource within our community. These podcasts provide easily accessible, insightful discussions about living with eosinophil-associated disorders and empower listeners with the tools to manage their conditions effectively. Guests on the program include researchers, clinicians, patients, and community members, creating a well-rounded perspective.
Patients and caregivers in all stages of their journey with eosinophil-associated disease and anyone wishing to learn more about the topic are invited to join the meetings at no cost. Each podcast runs 20-30 minutes in length, depending on the subject matter, and is offered on a number of listening platforms, including Spotify and YouTube. Guest speakers are professionals in the field of eosinophilic disorders, and they facilitate focused discussions on topics of interest. Themes for each session are planned with input from members of our patient community to ensure we provide relevant and meaningful content to the audience.
