Project Title: Creativity Cell
Project Description:

The Creativity Shell is a nonprofit organization on a mission to use creative arts programs as a medium to teach life, practical, fundamental and positive mental health skills to the next generation of makers. Our organization teaches classes such as sewing, textile arts, cooking, ceramics, STEM and other creative trades to students in our studios, libraries, schools, ABA therapy centers, the juvenile justice system as well as shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking.

From our history of working in shelters that rescue youth human trafficking survivors, we believe that building confidence and self esteem in our children is the best medicine towards boosting positive mental health. In 2024, we want to expand our programs into more juvenile detention facilities across the Houston area where empty prison cells will be converted into sewing, pottery, hydrophobic vegetable gardens and art rooms while the open space on the floor will be transformed into a kitchen. This Creativity Shell floor will offer a near full time schedule of classes and the organization hopes their classes will help offer cooking, sewing, art, pottery, indoor gardening, crochet and other practical life skills classes to incarcerated children at the facility.
