Project Title: Youth Everyday Leadership
Project Description:

In today’s world, young people are facing the most hardships and lack of belongingness within our society. They are also experiencing staggeringly high rates of gun deaths and injuries. We are passionate about empowering the next generation of leaders and share responsibility for taking action and solving social ills. John R. Lewis Reentry Reform Services (JRL RRS) Youth Everyday Leadership Program is a 10-day program. We offer every three months throughout the year that’s made available to participants, ages 10-17. We help youth focus on positive life changes and healthy relationships through dynamic and interactive training to help them overcome trauma and challenges that put them at risk. It gives young people the opportunity to apply the leadership skills they learn through personal, advocacy, effective communication, decision-making, teamwork, social skill enhancement, and fun activities. They realize their power by learning to use their voices to create meaningful change. One of our main goals is to teach young people that their struggles and obstacles don’t determine their lives; they can always overcome adversity with help and hard work. Our participants leave with leadership and social skills, academic improvement, and an involved community they can rely on. Our approach engages youth in productive and constructive activities that develop youths’ understanding of themselves and their cultures. Equip them with the knowledge, skills, and qualities needed for leadership. Encourage youths’ engagement and contribution. Promotes healthy relationships and bonding in a safe and supportive environment. And build youth leadership through practical skills and social and emotional learning. We at JRL RRS hope you will award our nonprofit organization the requested funding of $10,000.00 to help fund our Youth Everyday Leadership Program and offer it to 20 participants for free.
