Project Title: Story Time Young Entrepreneurs
Project Description:

Dream North Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in September 2021 committed to uplifting underserved communities (CA, NV, OR and The Bahamas), especially women and children (ages 11-18) exposed to the judicial and foster care systems, homelessness and sex trafficking, through literary arts and community development programs. Our mission is to make a positive and lasting impact on a minimum of 1,000 minority community members annually, focusing on promoting literacy, fostering healthy lifestyles, and bridging cultural gaps through collaboration and global unification.

We are thrilled to present our upcoming initiative, the "Story Time Young Entrepreneurs" after-school program scheduled to launch in Fall 2024 in Los Angeles (Green Dot Public Schools) and Las Vegas (Clark County School District). This program is poised to serve 100-150 students annually. Over two semesters, the 10-week program ensures a substantial 150 service hours per student, offering a robust educational experience. Participants will delve into the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, learning vital skills such as budgeting, business plan summaries, and vision board creation.

A noteworthy observation has been the transformative impact of the culinary component, especially with the expertise brought in through the partnership with Something Good 2 Eat Catering. Beyond skill acquisition, it serves as a catalyst for youth engagement, self-esteem cultivation, and community development. This component becomes a positive and vital outlet for those exposed to at-risk conditions, encouraging them to focus their energy on crafts that uplift both themselves and others. The program uniquely combines mentorship and financial resources for culinary arts advancement while instilling awareness of the positive effects of healthy eating, ensuring students gain valuable trade and life skills for a holistic development journey. We anticipate significant positive changes in the lives of the participants, fostering personal and academic growth.
