Project Title: JUVENILE LITERACY AND MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
Project Description:

Finally Safe is a faith-based nonprofit organization focused on the quality of life and social wellbeing of at-risk youth, ages 12-18.

Our Juvenile Literacy and Mentorship program targets at-risk male adolescents that struggle with behavior infractions, parental loss, learning loss, and illiteracy. Our mission with this project is to contribute to the holistic development of those affected by these adversities, crime and poverty, and early incarceration.

Finally Safe wants to increase our outreach potential, enrolling new program participants, and creating new levels of impact through alternative approaches such as, literacy therapy, social-emotional learning, ministry, and culturally relevant activities. Our environment is inclusive and a safe space, where we provide a unique process to augment the growth and learning experience of our program participants.

Established as a nonprofit in 2019, Finally Safe has become a beacon of hope and transformation for at-risk youth. We provide advocacy, support, intervention, and mentorship during juvenile incarceration, and aftercare support to those that are transitioning out of detention, helping them integrate back into school and community life. Presently, we serve 25-40 youth per month. Our impact includes a 97% retention rate and 98% active participation. Participants are 100% satisfied and engaged. We have a 30% positive follow-up rate and have seen a remarkable 50% reduction in rearrest for program participants.
