Project Title: Child & Youth Advocacy Program
Project Description:
The grant funds requested will be entirely dedicated to supporting our Child and Youth Advocacy Program. This includes the costs associated with highly trained Advocates, essential supplies, and additional resources required to meet the growing demand for our services. Advocates assist families and their impacted children by providing emotional support, safety planning, crisis intervention services, collaborating with parents to offer resource referrals and connections to childcare, healthcare, and education, assistance before, during, and after legal processes, and needs around fostering self-awareness, creative expression, and healthy outlets for emotions. In recent years, federal funding sources for our programs have seen a drastic reduction, decreasing by more than 60% over the last five years. Despite these challenges, we have witnessed an increased need for our Child and Youth Advocacy services. The demand is higher than ever, and we are determined to continue providing these essential services to child survivors, but we need your help to sustain and enhance these crucial services for child survivors who have faced trauma, violence, and heartbreak in their young lives. In the last year, Canyon Creek Services has served more than 150 children through our Child & Youth Victim Advocacy program. 55 of those children stayed in our shelter and received services every single day of their stay. A mother who stayed at our shelter with her children at our shelter wrote in her exit survey, "My daughter’s night terrors are completely gone after working with your team. Thank you for providing me with resources and support to get her through it, and for helping her feel safe and able to be a kid again." The impact of services like these are life-changing. With your support, we aim to continue providing essential services to child survivors and their families despite federal funding reductions, meet the increased demand for services, and ensure that every child and teen receives the necessary support to cope, heal, and thrive.
Your generous grant will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the well-being of child survivors and helping us fulfill our mission of creating ‘Communities Free of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.’ We are ready and eager to discuss this proposal further, providing any additional information required.
