Project Title: Fostering Heroes Foundation Cowboy Camp
Project Description:

Since 2014, Cowboy Camp has taken place over seven weeks at the Flying E Ranch in Wickenburg, Arizona. From June to July we serve approximately 400+ foster youth between the ages of 13 and 18. Our program provides an unforgettable experience to immerse in the lifestyle at an authentic dude ranch, empowering personal growth and a sense of belonging.

Our overnight Cowboy Camp offers an escape from the everyday routines of group home life and allows the children to engage in a variety of memorable activities such as horseback riding, pool / cowboy games, exploring the desert in utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) and bonding with volunteers around the campfire. We provide healthy meals, sleeping bags and lodging for all the participants at camp. These experiences transform and provide these youth with memories that will positively impact their lives for years to come.

Prior to leaving camp, youth will have the opportunity to pick out new clothes, undergarments and hygiene products from our complimentary “shop.”

Cowboy Camp is made possible through the support of 25+ volunteers, Fostering Heroes and ranch staff. Volunteers help ensure the safety, well-being and active engagement of all participants. The staff members and volunteers have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge about ranching and a commitment to positively impact the futures of the campers.

Funding will be utilized for food, lodging, sleeping bags, clothing and salaries for the ranch and Fostering Heroes Foundation staff. The program may also allocate funds for materials / equipment necessary for camp and may be used to promote camp to reach more group homes and expand the camp’s reach.

Cowboy Camp embodies the Hermanowski Foundation’s commitment to inspiring youth to reach their full potential and helps place foster youth on a path towards a brighter future filled with confidence and a sense of community.
