Project Title: STEM Children’s Educational Program
Project Description:

Rebecca Everlene Trust Company offers an afterschool mobile STEM program for children ages under 7 to 18. We introduce young learners to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) through project-based learning and a variety of creative learning applications aimed at developing each child’s cognitive, discerning, problem-solving, and peer collaboration skills. STEM integrates subjects into various education disciplines that include creative thinking and arts to prepare children for long-term success in STEM education and careers.

Our organization understands that student engagement and academic success is a daily choice made by the child. So, we use creative programming and a hands-on approach to learning that is engaging, exciting, and fun! Participating children get to design, build, test, and refine their own innovative creations in a safe and enriched learning environment.

In harmony with the U.S. Department of Higher Education’s directive to inform, engage, recruit, retain and graduate significantly more students and enhance their success in STEM pathway programs, Rebecca Everlene Trust Company was established to supplement education for preschool, Pre-K, and elementary school children in critical STEM disciplines while enhancing educational experiences that would lead to improved academic and long-term career outcomes. Studies have shown that students in STEM related after-school programs had increased interest in STEM careers and improvement in 21st-century skills (Noyce Foundation, 2014).

In addition, Rebecca Everlene Trust Company effectively shifts the sole burden of building STEM capabilities from public schools to our program, which is very helpful for budget-strapped schools. One of the many benefits of our program is our ability to increase student aptitude and engagement without strict and punitive approaches to learning. In doing so, we are also inspiring and empowering students to develop the knowledge, skills, and mindsets necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing, technologically rich, global society.
