Project Title: Story Board Book Project
Project Description:

The Warren Center (TWC), created in 1968, provides care and resources to children with disabilities and their families. TWC helps children reach their developmental goals through individualized therapy-based care and equips parents through monthly education workshops and support groups so they can be a confident advocate for their child. Providing parent training and education is a core component in our program. Our therapists are in the home only a few hours each week. We provide parents with the tools and training to carryover activities after our therapists leave.

The Board Book project is designed to be a fun activity for the child and parent and helps the child work on verbal and identifying skills by encouraging the children to describe the story details and imitate sounds. TWC utilized the help of volunteers to laminate pieces that correspond to a board book and applying velcro for the matching items to create an interactive learning experience, fostering the joy of reading.

Our vision is that all children reach their full potential and have a childhood filled with possibilities. Parents having access to story boards for use at home builds on the progress their children are making as they acquire new skills and reach developmental milestones.

Total Project Budget: $1,466.96 – Items needed include: 100 Itsy Bitsy Spider Bilingual – $396, 100 Brown Bear – $453, 100 Baby Shark – $455, 300 sheets card stock – $15.99, 300 laminating pouches – $25.96, 7000 velcro dots – $90.93, Printing color pages – $13.36, 300 Ziploc bags for each book – $16.72
