Project Title: IMPACT Your Acceptance (Recruitment)
Project Description:
The IMPACT Your Acceptance (IYA) program helps youth and their families become knowledgeable about the college application process and provides them with a suite of resources to ensure they achieve their goal of college acceptance and completion of a degree. IYA instills confidence in the minority, working-class students it serves, helping them become fully college-ready as they progress through grades 10-12. We continue to serve participants through their college process, to the extent that they desire.
IYA increases participants’ odds of being accepted to their target university programs and helps them to secure enough funding to complete their studies. The goal is to help youth conquer the battle of being accepted into college and to win the war of completing higher education. The IYA program does this by helping scholars secure funds for tuition and living expenses and providing mentorship and support networks that ensure they stay on track and follow through.
In preparation for the college application season, IYA students undergo several weeks of virtual class sessions and hours of one-on-one sessions with writing coaches to perfect their essays and personal statements. Parents and students both receive guidance around completing FAFSA and choosing scholarships. Support from Charles And Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation would help us scale IYA to serve a cohort of 50 students this year, which would be our largest cohort yet.
