Project Title: Eagles’ Nest ELC General Operation
Project Description:

Eagles’ Nest Early Learning Center (ENELC) is a not-for-profit early childhood education center located in the mountains of Black Hawk, Colorado. ENELC is the only childcare facility in the area, and we serve the counties of Gilpin, Boulder, Jefferson, and Clear Creek. ENELC has been a vital necessity to families in all four counties. ENELC is the only licensed infant and toddler care provider in a 20-mile radius. Since opening the doors in 1996, ENELC has provided affordable care and quality education to all residents in the four counties we serve. The tuition rates are competitive with surrounding centers, either equivalent to or significantly lower. This uniquely affordable and accessible center provides working families with the ability to afford childcare and relieves the burden of a significantly large monthly expense. The center accommodates children on the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) with the applicable counties. This program provides low-income families that face an economic hardship the ability to attend the same early childhood education programs with a lower rate that is affordable. ENELC offers a sliding scale to those who do not qualify for CCAP and provides teachers with scholarships for their children that attend the center. Our program is based on the philosophy that children should be nurtured through consistency and security; teachers and parents should work together to meet the needs of children; and the center’s learning environment should be a happy and positive one. To uphold our philosophy and continue to provide the community with these wonderful learning programs while maintaining a lower than state ratio, we look for alternate funding that this grant provides. In order to support the healthy development of the young children in our community and continue to successfully retain our staff, ENELC respectfully requests $10,000 in general operation from the Foundation.
