Project Title: Education Program
Project Description:

Youth spend more time online than ever before and more time consuming porn. According to SimilarWeb’s July 2022 traffic report, the three top-ranking porn sites generate more traffic annually than Amazon, Netflix, and TikTok combined. A nationally representative survey of U.S. teens shows that 84% of males and 57% of females ages 14-18 have viewed or consumed pornography (Solano, 2020). Most teens are exposed to porn by age 13, many of them as young as 8 or 9 years old (Wright, 2021). While decades of research confirm pornography’s negative effects, many remain unaware of its impacts on their brains, relationships, and communities.
Fight the New Drug’s (FTND) Education Program provides millions of individuals the opportunity to make an informed decision to live a porn-free life. The Education Program illustrates porn’s harms and its links to all forms of sexual exploitation through online educational resources, including our youthful documentary series, extensive educational video library, awareness-raising sharable content, and our robust Live Presentation Program. Our presentations include current research on porn’s harm reaching over one million youth, parents, community members, and leaders. To make educational presentations even more accessible to schools and organizations, we also created the Live Event Scholarship Fund. Our Education Program plays a critical role in filling the monumental gap in the general public’s understanding of the negative impacts pornography can have on individuals, relationships, and society. In fact, a national survey shows that those exposed to FTND’s content are twice as likely to understand the impacts of porn compared to the average person. Together with the Hermanowski Family Foundation, we can continue to develop invaluable resources and materials to change the lives of millions of youth everywhere.
