Project Title: STEM Afterschool
Project Description:

STEM Afterschool is a start-up nonprofit organization that will focus on STEM courses. It will tutor 3rd and 4th grade students on the south side of Monroe, Louisiana, regardless of race, in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This project addresses the problem of low-test scores on the LEAP (Louisiana Educational Assessment Program) Test in Mathematics and Science This is an impoverished area, and the students are considered “at risk. They also have low performance on standardized test.
STEM Project is unique because it is an afterschool program that focuses ONLY on STEM subjects. Other afterschool programs focus their attention on ELA and Math. This will be the first afterschool program in the area that focuses solely on STEM.
