Project Title: Every Kid’s Backyard
Project Description:

Trinity’s Youth Mentoring Program is uniquely located on a 67-acre horse ranch, established with the mission to empower local young people through positive inspiration and guidance to help reach their goals. We are a family-owned 501c3 non-profit that has been providing Mental Health Services, Youth Mentoring, and Skills Workshops for over 20 years. We serve children in 16 Wisconsin counties who are in at-risk environments, have specific mental health needs, and/or who are survivors of abuse, violence, trauma, significant mental health struggles, and more. Trinity provides evidence-based Daily Living Skills Training by professional Mentors and is clinically supervised by a Wisconsin Licensed Professional Counselor. Our program is community-based and contracts with local Human & Family Services agencies to create treatment plans and recovery goals to best serve each individual Mentee. Trinity currently has 69 Youth Mentors working in our community servicing 103 youth, ages 5-18, and another 68 individuals on our waitlist to receive services.

To better children who do not have access to a safe place to run and play, dig in the dirt, and throw a football or baseball, we want to provide our at-risk youth with a high-energy environment where they can learn how to maintain a mentally healthy lifestyle. Our goal is to transform and improve an unused horse pasture into a safe, kid-friendly, skill-building environment, including an adaptive garden area and a kickball field. A complete handicap-accessible playground will engage our children in services while helping them to cultivate new skills, such as positive communication, emotional regulation, and social awareness, and do so in a safe space while engaging in one-on-one Mentoring. With the worldwide shift towards preserving our mental wellbeing, teaching healthy coping skills to young kids and teenagers has never been more important.
