Project Title: K.I.N.D.E.R. Project (Kids In Need of Durable Equipment Right Now)
Project Description:
The K.I.N.D.E.R. Project (KIDS IN NEED OF DURABLE EQUIPMENT RIGHT NOW) provides durable medical equipment at no cost to low-income families with children who have acute medical needs such as spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries and fractures, or children with special needs, to provide mobility, independence, and the opportunity to live their best lives. The equipment can be new, recycled or refurbished, and includes pediatric wheelchairs, pediatric posterior walkers, adaptive strollers, pediatric bathing systems, standers, P-pods positioning chairs, and more. Without access to such equipment, the health of many of these children would deteriorate.
Medicaid approvals for Durable Medical Equipment are a long process IF they even approve the doctor prescribed equipment, & and they only provide 1 piece, even when 2 pieces are prescribed. Children from low income, underinsured families do not get the equipment they urgently need.
For families who do not have insurance at all, and do not have the economic means to purchase the equipment their child needs, their child will still receive the needed DME, without delay. Most orders for Durable Medical Equipment are fulfilled within 24 hours.
