Project Title: Golden Bell Grant Program
Project Description:
The Golden Bell Education Foundation awards grants to Boca Raton public school teachers and administrators for programs that support the development of business skills and workforce readiness. At the elementary school level, we mainly fund requests that support literacy and the development of reading. Students reading at grade level by grade three is crucial to their long-term success. At the middle school level, we focus on experiential education as it relates to career and/or academic exploration and development and/or the core curriculum. An example would be a program that would introduce students to different career paths or options. Lastly, at the high school level we support career and/or academic preparation as it relates to the core curriculum and/or academy curriculum. Most, if not all, Boca Raton public high schools have academies. The academies provide hands on experience in specific career fields, such as the medical academy, culinary academy, teaching academy, etc. These academies do not receive any additional funding from the district, and they have very limited resources. Every year, our grant application portal is open for a six-week period for teachers to apply. Once the portal has closed, the Golden Bell Board of Directors review each and every request. Grants are awarded in September at the Golden Bell Breakfast. The Foundation awarded over $110,000 for the 2022-23 school year and hopes to continue increasing that amount in the years to come.
