Project Title: Healthcare Access – Back to School Physicals Initiative
Project Description:

Shepherd’s Hope with support of volunteer pediatric providers will continue to deliver essential health services for children with the Pediatric back to school physicals initiative across Central Florida. Without these physicals, children cannot start school or play sports. Children are required by Florida state law to demonstrate proof of immunization and an annual examination, prior to enrollment in a Florida state public school.
Now more than every it is important to get children connected to health providers. To date we have not changed the fact that the second-highest number of children without health insurance live in Florida. Last year, Shepherd’s Hope ensured physicals for 340 children. This year we forecast serving up to 800 children of the uninsured families.
Shepherd’s Hope respectfully requests the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation to join us in increasing the reach and impact of the Back-to-School program that has become a vehicle to bridge the coverage gap by providing free access to high quality healthcare to underserved and uninsured children while mitigating the tremendous financial implications to the community and other healthcare providers.
