Project Title: The Troopers Program
Project Description:

The Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps is made up of up to 160 16 to 21-year-olds who spend the summer rigorously rehearsing and performing an 11-minute show playing brass or percussion instruments, spin flags, rifles, and sabers, all while marching a complicated and demanding choreographed drill. The Troopers travel over 10,000 miles each summer to perform in competitions, parades, and other civic functions and are part of Drum Corps International.

Auditions are held throughout the winter, and by May, 160 members will have been offered a position! Also known by fans as "America’s Corps", members begin learning the corps song and begin to reflect their motto, "Honor, Loyalty, and Dedication". Once Spring Training begins, members learn the show for the summer competitive season. These important weeks are when members are shaped into leaders and become part of something bigger than themselves. It is difficult to describe what being a Trooper is all about without experiencing the amount of work and dedication these young people pour their hearts and souls into.

Inclusivity and diversiveness is very important to the Troopers and if a young person wants to march, we don’t want to turn them down because of financial hardship. While lower than most drum corps, tuition is over $4,000 for this 3-month experience and can be difficult for some families. While tuition pays for instruction, food, housing, facilities, equipment, and transportation, some members need financial assistance. Prospective scholarship recipients must provide $400 and start their own Go Fund Me page to demonstrate work on their end. Help from the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation would be invaluable to help young people make their dream of marching in the Troopers a reality. It is our hope that your family foundation can be an integral partner to these hard working youth.
