Project Title: Peer mentor prgram
Project Description:

Mosaic Advocacy’s peer mentor orogram supports parents whose children have been removed from their care and placed in foster care, with the ultimate goal of helping children safely return home and remain safely with their families.

The program pairs parents navigating an active Child Protective Services (CPS) case with trained mentors (parents who have personally been impacted by CPS and successfully reunified with their own children). Through consistent, one-on-one support, mentors help parents navigate court requirements, build healthy parenting skills, access housing and employment resources, connect to mental health services and develop the stability needed to safely care for their children.

While our services are delivered to parents, children are at the center of everything we do. Family separation can be deeply disruptive to a child’s emotional well-being, relationships and sense of stability. When reunification is safe and appropriate, helping parents overcome barriers to reunification can reduce the amount of time children spend in foster care and increase their opportunity to grow up in a stable, nurturing, biological family environment.

Our program also focuses on what happens after reunification. Mosaic provides two years of post-reunification support to help families maintain stability, strengthen parent-child relationships and reduce the likelihood of children re-entering foster care.

The program creates a powerful cycle of change: parents who successfully reunify can become mentors themselves, using their living experience to help other families. This provides meaningful employment and economic mobility for parents while creating a growing network of experienced community members committed to keeping children safely connected to their families.

By investing in parents, Mosaic Advocacy invests directly in children, helping more children return home safely, spend less time in foster care and grow up in stronger, healthier families.
