Project Title: 18–21-Year-Old Support Services
Project Description:

Project Description

His Ideas, Inc. DBA Children First Foster Family Agency provides Transitional Housing Program + Foster Care NMD services to foster youth and non-minor dependents ages 18–21 throughout the Siskiyou, Shasta, Tehama, and Sutter/Yuba regions of rural Northern California. Across these service areas, we currently serve 94 clients.

The purpose of this project is to provide direct financial and practical assistance to young adults transitioning from foster care into greater independence. Many of the youth we serve enter adulthood without consistent family support or the financial resources needed to address unexpected expenses. In rural communities, limited transportation, housing availability, employment opportunities, and access to supportive resources can create additional barriers.

Grant funds will be used to assist youth with essential needs that support housing stability, education, employment, and successful independent living. These needs may include transportation and fuel assistance, work clothing and employment-related expenses, educational supplies, household and move-in essentials, identification documents, emergency basic needs, and independent-living resources.

Through individualized case management, our staff works closely with each young person to identify goals, address barriers, and strengthen skills related to employment, education, budgeting, housing, and daily living.

A $10,000 grant from the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation would allow Children First Foster Family Agency to respond quickly when a relatively small financial need could otherwise interfere with a youth’s progress. This support will help young adults maintain stability, pursue their goals, and build the skills and confidence necessary for successful adulthood.

Total Project Budget: $10,000
