Project Title: ARTworks: Bringing Hands-On Arts Education to Eastern Idaho Students
Project Description:
The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho respectfully requests $10,000 to support ARTworks, the museum’s flagship arts education outreach program serving elementary and middle school students throughout Eastern Idaho.
ARTworks brings museum-quality visual arts education directly into classrooms while also welcoming students to the museum for guided tours and hands-on art experiences. Each lesson is aligned with educational standards and integrates visual arts with subjects including science, history, literature, and social studies. Students develop creativity, critical thinking, observation, communication, and problem-solving skills while engaging with original works of art and creating artwork of their own.
Many children in rural Eastern Idaho have little or no regular access to museum experiences or comprehensive visual arts education. ARTworks ensures that geography and school resources are not barriers to creative learning by bringing high-quality arts instruction directly to students and connecting them with original works of art. Every participating teacher also receives curriculum resources and teacher resource packets that extend learning beyond the museum visit and support continued classroom instruction.
During the 2026–2027 school year, ARTworks will provide classroom outreach, museum field trips, and educational resources to students across multiple Eastern Idaho school districts, reaching both urban and rural communities.
Funding from the Hermanowski Foundation will provide art supplies for classroom lessons, museum educational materials, curriculum resources, teacher resource packets, and outreach lesson kits, helping ensure that more children experience the transformative power of the visual arts regardless of where they live or their school’s financial resources.
By making arts education more accessible, ARTworks inspires creativity, builds confidence, strengthens critical thinking, and helps young people develop skills that benefit them throughout their education and beyond.
