Project Title: Child Development Center
Project Description:

YWCA of Palm Beach County established the Child Development Center in the 1970s to provide affordable preschool and childcare to working mothers in underserved areas of Palm Beach County. Children aged 3-5 years old learn through culturally-informed activity-based curriculum at the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)-accredited HeadStart program. Designed to address literacy gaps and give children from minority and low-income households an equal start, the CDC operates year-round and offers extended hours to meet the needs of working mothers. Families access case management, developmental and health screenings, and an array of resources through referrals to partner agencies. The three-classroom school is located in the historic Northwest district of West Palm Beach and currently serves 48 students.
