Project Title: Healing Futures: Trauma‑Informed Support for Children and Youth in High‑Need Florida Communities
Project Description:

More Than Foundation is a Florida‑based 501(c)(3) that heals trauma and breaks poverty cycles with community‑led solutions for children, youth, and families. Through our Healing Futures program, we provide trauma‑informed support and practical resources to children and youth up to age 21 in high‑need Florida communities, while training the adults closest to them in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA).

With support from the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation, we will provide one year of Healing Futures services focused on children and youth in Brevard County and nearby communities. The project will: 1) deliver healing‑centered groups, circles, and one‑on‑one support for children and youth coping with grief, violence, and family instability; 2) provide food, hygiene kits, clothing, and back‑to‑school supplies so basic needs do not block healing or schooling; and 3) train at least 10–15 parents, caregivers, and youth‑serving adults in MHFA, equipping them to recognize distress, respond safely, and connect children to help.

Over the grant year, we expect to serve at least 50–75 children and youth up to age 21 with healing‑centered and wraparound support, while increasing the number of nearby, trusted adults who can support them at school, at home, and in the community. This project builds on our existing Healing Futures work, which has already certified 270 MHFA participants and served 1,300 youth across Florida by the end of 2025.
