Project Title: Summer Learning & Youth Development Program
Project Description:
Hartford Camp Courant’s Summer Learning & Youth Development Program provides Hartford children and youth from low- and moderate-income households with affordable access to academic enrichment, leadership development, recreation, healthy meals, transportation, and social-emotional supports in a safe and supportive environment. The six-week summer program is designed to help prevent summer learning loss while promoting positive youth development, confidence, teamwork, and long-term educational success.
Campers participate in structured educational and enrichment activities including literacy, STEAM, arts, swimming, sports, financial literacy, wellness, and leadership programming. The program also provides mentorship and leadership opportunities for older youth through Junior Leadership initiatives that help participants strengthen communication, teamwork, and workforce readiness skills.
In addition to educational programming, Hartford Camp Courant provides daily meals and snacks, free transportation throughout Hartford neighborhoods, and supportive services that help reduce barriers for working families and underserved youth. Many participating families would otherwise have limited access to affordable summer educational enrichment and safe summer opportunities.
Funding from the Hermanowski Foundation will help support educational programming, transportation, meals, supplies, and youth development activities that ensure Hartford children can participate regardless of financial circumstances. Through this program, Hartford Camp Courant aims to create meaningful educational, social-emotional, and leadership development opportunities that help youth build the skills and confidence needed for long-term success.
Total Project Budget: 885,000
