Project Title: Hot Meal and A Book
Project Description:

The I-Supplies Foundation is requesting support for Hot Meal & A Book, a summer enrichment program serving children and youth living in low-income housing communities in East Tampa. The program was created to address two challenges many families face during the summer months: food insecurity and learning loss.

Each week, children receive a hot meal, a new book to build their home library, and participate in literacy-based activities that encourage reading, learning, and positive social interaction. The program creates a safe and welcoming environment where children can stay engaged, continue learning, and connect with caring adults while school is out of session.

Many of the children we serve have limited access to books, enrichment opportunities, and structured activities during the summer. By bringing resources directly into their communities, we remove barriers that often prevent families from participating in traditional summer programs.

In addition to supporting children, the program serves as a connection point for families. Parents are linked to community resources, educational supports, and services that can help strengthen family stability and improve outcomes for their children.

Funding will help provide books, meals, educational materials, and program supplies, allowing us to serve more children throughout the summer. Our goal is simple: ensure that every child leaves the summer with a full belly, a new book, and the confidence to return to school ready to succeed.

Through this initiative, we hope to inspire a love of reading, reduce summer learning loss, and create positive opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive.

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): The I-Supplies Foundation is committed to supporting the Hot Meal & A Book program through volunteer time, program coordination, community outreach, and in-kind donations. Additional support will be sought from local businesses, faith-based organizations, and community partners through book donations, meal sponsorships, and program supplies. Potential funding sources also include individual donors, corporate sponsors, and local foundations. The Hermanowski Foundation grant would provide critical support to expand the program’s reach and ensure children in underserved communities have access to books, nutritious meals, and summer enrichment opportunities.

Project Duration: 8 weeks (June–August 2026) The Hot Meal & A Book Summer Enrichment Program will operate during the summer months, providing weekly literacy activities, books, meals, and family support services to children and families in East Tampa.
Geographical Area Served: East Tampa and surrounding areas of Hillsborough County, Florida, with a primary focus on the 33610 ZIP code and affordable housing communities such as Silver Oaks, Jackson Heights, Columbus Court, and Central Court. The program serves children and families facing economic challenges and limited access to educational resources.
