Project Title: Courageous Kids
Project Description:

Valiant Voyages is non-profit, 501(c)(3) for kids with cancer and other serious illnesses and their families. Together they share a two-to-four hour magical experience sailing a large vessel while learning about the marine environment. All are encouraged to get involved in sailing, or simply relax far from hospitals and treatments.

The program operates out of Mystic, CT, aboard The Violet,
a 45-foot Scots Zulu built in 1911 in Fraserburgh, Scotland.
And out of Charleston, SC, on Shenanigan, a 50-foot, center cockpit Gulfstar ketch. During our trips, we teach our specials how to:

• Prepare for sailing
• Shove off
• Hoist the sails
• Steer the ship
• Read the instruments
• Navigate the water

The first Valiant Voyages trip took place on July 8, 2013.
