Project Title: Krystal/Ace
Project Description:

Krystal began vaulting when she was little. She benefits greatly from vaulting as it helps her keep her mobility.

Our other handicapped vaulter is a miracle baby. Ace Farrow was born weighing only 3 lbs, and during his NICU stay he started to have a form of rare silent seizures that caused him to have difficulty breathing. Ace was not hitting the usual baby milestones of rolling over, sitting up and verbalizing. An MRI was done where Doctors then found he had severe brain damage and he was formally diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.

Here is where the story takes a turn for the better. At the recommendation of his nurse, at the age of 9 months, Ace spent his first session on the back of a vaulting horse, where he immediately began to lift his head, arching his back to see around him. He laughed, and stretched his legs out – the first time his mother had seen him move like this.

Subsequent sessions on the horse have proved to increase his strength, and he is now able to lift his head, and he has improved eye engagement. Ace continues to work so hard, he is extremely ambitious and does what he sets his mind to. He is such a happy boy who loves music and being outdoors.

We share Ace’s story in particular because as he is under the age of 2, he is not currently eligible for Regional Center funding to cover the costs of his sessions. We want to continue to provide services to him but we need your support.

We are requesting funding of $5,000 that would help cover the costs of providing care for both of our handicapped vaulters for a year, and to invest in a special saddle that could brace Ace in a seated position as he grows and gains strength.
