Project Title: No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town!
Project Description:

Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Inc. (SHP) – Racine/Kenosha, WI Chapter is dedicated to ensuring that no child sleeps on the floor in our community. We serve children ages 3–17 who lack a safe, comfortable place to sleep by building and delivering fully furnished beds at no cost to families in need.

This project will support the construction and delivery of approximately 850 twin beds over a one-year period. Each bed includes a handcrafted wooden frame, a new twin mattress, pillows, sheets, and bedding—providing a complete sleep solution for every child served. Our beds are built during community volunteer build days that engage individuals, families, local businesses, and civic groups in meaningful, hands-on service.

Children in need are identified through referrals from schools, social service agencies, and trusted community partners, ensuring we reach families experiencing the greatest need while avoiding duplication of services. Once a referral is approved, our volunteers coordinate and complete home deliveries, assembling beds on-site so children have a safe, comfortable place to sleep that same day.

This project addresses a critical but often unmet basic need. Sleep is essential to a child’s physical health, emotional wellbeing, and academic success. By providing beds, we help improve sleep quality, promote stability, and support children in reaching their full potential.

Through a strong volunteer base and community partnerships, SHP – Racine/Kenosha maximizes impact while keeping costs low. This allows us to efficiently serve a high number of children and ensure that every dollar directly supports delivering beds to those who need them most.
