Project Title: Emotional Wellness, Mental Health, and Suicide Prevention Education
Project Description:

A $5,000 grant will fund 10 Florida school-based mental health and suicide prevention education programs for students. Kind Minds for younger students (K-4) teaches children how to identify their emotions and build empathy, creating awareness of mental wellness early. Changing Minds (grades 5-12) is an evidence-based program that focuses on strengthening emotional wellness and mental health awareness using near-peer presenters discussing real life stories of hope and resilience interlaced with factual mental health education. Our Hear to Help program (grades 5-12) empowers students with essential skills to be a supportive friend, build empathy, and create safe and supportive peer communities. This grant will support any of these Minding Your Mind student specific programs, offering them at no cost to any elementary, middle, high school and/or community groups, with the potential to reach 1,000 or more students.

Minding Your Mind partners with Florida schools and communities, delivering high-impact programs at no cost to ensure equitable access. Our speakers reflect the diverse identities and lived experiences of the youth they serve. Programs are grounded in open dialogue, cultural responsiveness, and evidence-based practices, ensuring that students feel seen, heard, and respected.

Our student programs take place in person, on school campuses, during assemblies, health classes, and wellness periods. Offerings are available year-round, though most are scheduled during the school calendar year. We tailor our approach to each school’s needs—whether integrated into existing curricula or aligned with standalone wellness efforts. Our trained facilitators, including licensed clinicians and near-peer speakers, bring Minding Your Mind programs to life. Kind Minds is typically delivered as an engaging 30–45 minute assembly, with flexibility to match age and group needs. Changing Minds and Hear to Help, for grades 5–12, fit seamlessly into health classes or assemblies, averaging 45 minutes per session.

Total Project Budget: $81,500
