Project Title: Pathways to HOPE for the Future
Project Description:
The Center for Family Justice (CFJ) seeks funding to support "Pathways to HOPE for the Future," a comprehensive youth-focused initiative addressing the complex needs of children impacted by interpersonal violence in Bridgeport, CT. Every 47 seconds, a child in the U.S. experiences abuse or neglect, and CFJ’s integrated services provide critical healing and empowerment opportunities. The program includes three core components: the nationally accredited Child Advocacy Center (CAC), Camp HOPE, and the year-round Elizabeth M. Pfriem Pathways to HOPE mentoring and engagement program. The CAC offers a coordinated, child-centered response involving law enforcement, medical, and mental health professionals to investigate abuse and provide evidence-based interventions. Camp HOPE is a transformative week-long summer camp for children ages 7–17, fostering resilience through therapeutic and recreational activities. The year-round Pathways to HOPE program offers mentoring, arts, athletics, STEM learning, and college preparation to break cycles of trauma and build hope. This continuum of care supports children from disclosure through long-term healing, demonstrated by success stories like siblings Samantha and Joe, who gained confidence and resilience through the program. Funding will enhance program capacity, ensuring more children in Bridgeport receive these vital services. This initiative aligns with the Hermanowski Family Foundation’s mission by delivering innovative, sustainable, and measurable community impact through trauma-informed care and empowerment of vulnerable youth.
