Project Title: Project Zero Baltimore
Project Description:

Project Zero Baltimore is the developing nonprofit initiative of the Baltimore Compost Collective. Our goal is not only to empower Baltimore youth to take control of their environment, but to equip them with the skills and knowledge to improve it. Guided by our mission, Project Zero Baltimore supports youth initiatives focused on developing and implementing solutions that promote a circular economy, reduce waste and poverty, and create innovative approaches to reuse, recycling, composting, and resource recovery.

While we continue building our Zero‑Waste Incubator, we are actively engaging youth through workshops, school visits, community events, and educational lectures. These programs introduce young people to zero‑waste principles, environmental justice, composting, and sustainable land stewardship, giving them hands‑on experience and a foundation to grow from.

As the incubator develops, it will provide resources, mentorship, and funding to youth entrepreneurs working in areas such as organic material reduction, recycling, composting, farming, and the creation of sustainable products and processes. Our long‑term vision is to cultivate a generation of young leaders who can design and implement community‑centered solutions that reduce Baltimore’s reliance on harmful waste systems, including the incinerators that have long impacted the health and well‑being of nearby residents.

At its core, Project Zero Baltimore is about possibility: zero waste, zero barriers, and zero limits on what Baltimore youth can achieve when given the tools, support, and space to lead.
