Project Title: Spring and Winter Art Camp Scholarships
Project Description:
Grant funds will be used to support programmatic costs associated with providing scholarships for students ages 4–12 to attend The Bass’s Spring and Winter Art Camps, taking place March 22–26, 2027, and December 21–23 and December 28–30, 2027, in Miami Beach. Camp activities will feature themed visual arts experiences designed to introduce participants to the IDEAS process and principles of Design Thinking. Through design challenges, hands-on artmaking, and collaborative projects, students will build creative confidence while developing critical 21st-century skills such as problem-solving, communication, and innovation.
Scholarships for The Bass’s Spring and Winter Art Camps will expand access to these transformative learning opportunities during key school breaks, when many families lack structured and affordable enrichment options. For working families, these periods can present financial and logistical challenges. By covering tuition, art materials, meals, and transportation, The Bass ensures that children who might otherwise be unable to participate can fully engage in a nurturing and inspiring environment.
The Bass has a proven track record of success through its IDEAS Summer Art Camps. The IDEAS framework—Identify, Discuss, Envision, Apply, and Share—integrates artmaking, gallery experiences, and workshops that use artworks as catalysts for creative and critical thinking. This summer program consistently provides more than 30 full scholarships each year, with strong outcomes reflected in increasing return rates. Most recently, 51% of campers returned, up from 42% in 2025.
With this grant, The Bass will provide 25 week-long scholarships, including before and after care as needed. Each session will include all materials, daily meals, and a culminating student exhibition, expanding equitable access to high-quality arts education.
