Project Title: LaRoche Scholars College Access and Financial Readiness Program
Project Description:

The LaRoche Scholars College Access and Financial Readiness Program will help underserved high school students and families in Greater Philadelphia move toward college with greater confidence, knowledge, and support. Many students have the drive and potential to succeed, but too often they face barriers such as limited college guidance, confusion around FAFSA and financial aid, and uncertainty about how to choose an affordable path after high school. This program is designed to meet students and families where they are and provide practical, caring support throughout the process.

Grant funding will support mentorship, college planning guidance, FAFSA and financial aid assistance, and family-centered workshops that help participants better understand college costs, compare options, and make informed decisions. Through one-on-one advising and educational resources, students will be better prepared to pursue higher education with fewer financial barriers and stronger long-term prospects for educational and economic success.

More formal grant version

The LaRoche Scholars College Access and Financial Readiness Program is designed to support underserved high school students and families in Greater Philadelphia as they navigate college access and affordability. The project addresses key barriers to postsecondary success, including limited access to college planning support, low financial aid literacy, and insufficient guidance in evaluating the true cost of college attendance.

Grant funding will support a coordinated set of services including mentorship, college planning assistance, FAFSA and financial aid guidance, and family-centered educational workshops. Program activities will provide students and caregivers with practical tools to understand financial aid offers, identify scholarship opportunities, compare postsecondary options, and make informed, debt-conscious decisions. By strengthening financial readiness and access to reliable guidance, the program aims to expand educational opportunity, reduce financial barriers, and improve long-term economic mobility for participating youth.
