Project Title: Expanding Hands-On Workforce and Creative Learning Access in the Upper Cumberland
Project Description:

UC Makerspace needs help expanding hands-on learning, practical skill building, and workforce-connected creative opportunities for youth and young adults in the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee.

We have many rural or underserved individuals who have talent & ambition but have limited access to the tools, technology, space & mentorship to pursue meaningful career and entrepreneurial paths.

Grant money supports and expands project-based programming that connects making, design, problem-solving, entrepreneurship, and real-world skill development.

Participants gain confidence, technical ability, communication skills, and creative thinking, which will support long-term economic opportunity and community growth.

This project targets increasing access for those who do not fit in traditional academic settings or who are seeking alternative routes to employment, self-employment and practical career development. In a place where people can learn by doing, UC Makerspace bridges the gap between potential and opportunity.

The Hermanowski Family Foundation’s support would expand program access, instructional capacity and impact of our work for young people and families in our region. So our goal is to make sure more people in the Upper Cumberland have experiences and resources that build skills, confidence, connection and a better future.
