Project Title: Hope To Finally Home – Ending Youth Homelessness
Project Description:

We are the only charity in Dallas County with a program to end homelessness for LGBTQ+-affirming youth. LGBTQ+ youth are only 8% of the nation, but makeup 40% of homeless youth, because of the devastating impact of broken familial relationships and early age ostracism. Our Hope to Finally Home program breaks the cycle of homelessness before it takes hold by providing critical life skills instruction, access to job training, and wraparound services that give homeless youth a way to reset their lives, strengthen their emotional and mental health, and give them a realistic path to financial independence.

Our program meets youth at multiple levels, based on their unique stage in life. Our Hope Street component provides immediate outreach & resources, including emergency hotel stays for youth in crisis. Our Dallas Hope Center is the only transitional living facility in Dallas County for LGBTQ+ youth. It is where we mentor and serve as the supportive family our youth did not have. It provides eight residents with safe housing, food, case management services, weekly mental health therapy, and a structured life skills program. Residents learn essential skills, such as cooking, budgeting, and job-readiness, while also volunteering in the community, attending college, or securing full-time employment. Our Finally Home component offers rent-assisted apartments to youth who only require minimal aid.

Our goal is that when a young person leaves our care, they possess the skills, savings, and emotional resilience to live independently. We believe that if we don’t do something now, then someone who is 18 or 19 and homeless, lacking skills and job training, faces a lifetime of continued homelessness.

Our hope is that you are as passionate about ending youth homelessness as we are and would generously fund us $10K, which would cover a portion of our monthly program costs.
