Project Title: Music for Love (Música por Amor)
Project Description:

Music for Love (Música por Amor) is a community music education initiative of the Asociación Suzuki de Violín de Puerto Rico that expands access to high-quality arts education for children in underserved communities. Inspired by the Suzuki philosophy—that every child can develop ability in a nurturing environment—the program provides structured group instrumental instruction, ensemble experiences, and family-centered learning opportunities that strengthen both musical skills and personal development.

The program partners with public schools and community organizations to serve students who often have limited access to arts education. Through weekly group classes, students develop fundamental musical abilities while also building discipline, confidence, creativity, and teamwork. The program includes performances, community concerts, and collaborative musical activities that help students experience the joy of artistic expression while fostering cultural pride and community connection.

Music for Love also integrates principles from music therapy and wellbeing practices. Music is used as a tool to support emotional regulation, resilience, and positive social interaction, helping students manage stress and strengthen focus and motivation. Family participation is a core element of the program, encouraging parents and caregivers to become active partners in their children’s learning process.

By bringing high-quality music education directly into schools and community settings, Music for Love helps address inequities in arts access while nurturing the next generation of young musicians, creative thinkers, and community leaders. Through this initiative, the Asociación Suzuki de Violín de Puerto Rico continues its mission of using music not only as an artistic discipline, but also as a powerful tool for education, wellbeing, and social transformation in Puerto Rico.

Today’s Date: 03/14/2026
Requested Amount: 5,500

Project Title: Interest in Que
Project Description:

Apogee 307 Foundation requests $5,500 to equip our campus STEAM center with essential supplies and materials to support a high-demand, hands-on science enrichment program for our K–6 students.

Upon entering the program, each child completes an interests inventory to guide personalized learning paths. Results show STEAM as a high-focus area across the board, with over 90% of our 20 full-time students (plus 10+ homeschool participants) expressing strong interest in pursuing STEAM-based fields. Our current STEAM center lacks major supplies for experiments, engineering challenges, and inquiry-based projects, limiting our ability to fully engage this enthusiasm.

We have partnered with The Science Zone for a 13-week interactive science program. including weekly lessons on topics like forces & motion, earth/space science, life cycles/ecosystems, chemistry, and engineering; two immersive inflatable planetarium sessions; and a culminating Family Science Evening with interactive stations and student demonstrations.

The $5,500 will fund critical STEAM supplies (e.g., lab materials, manipulatives, building kits, safety gear, and consumables for experiments/projects) to make the program fully accessible and hands-on. Total program cost is $3,220 (lessons $2,470, planetarium $300, family event $450), with the remaining funds building long-term STEAM inventory for ongoing campus use.

This investment will ignite curiosity, build scientific thinking, and foster real-world skills in a personalized, interest-driven environment. It strengthens community ties through family involvement and addresses educational gaps in Casper by providing equitable access to enriching STEM experiences for underserved students (~70% low-income, scholarship-supported).

Funds will be used within the program timeline, with measurable outcomes including student engagement surveys, project portfolios, and family feedback showing increased interest in STEAM pursuits.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to developing confident, capable young leaders. Thank you for considering this opportunity to inspire the next generation of innovators.

Requested Amount: $5000

Project Title: TAKE A HIKE INC
Project Description:

Take-A-Hike seeks support to expand its outdoor wellness program for at-risk children and families in Passaic County, New Jersey. The project provides safe, guided hiking experiences and nature-based activities that promote physical health, mental well-being, confidence, and environmental awareness among underserved youth ages 8–17.

Many of the children served have limited access to safe outdoor recreation due to financial barriers, lack of transportation, and limited exposure to structured wellness programs. The program operates through organized group hikes held throughout the year in local parks and natural areas. Each session includes safety briefings, guided hiking, and interactive activities focused on teamwork, leadership, healthy living, and environmental stewardship. Trained staff and volunteers mentor participants and create a supportive environment where youth can build confidence, develop social skills, and experience the benefits of nature.

Funding will support key program expenses including transportation to hiking locations, safety and hiking equipment, program supplies, volunteer training, and outreach to community partners. These resources will allow Take-A-Hike to expand participation and ensure the program remains accessible to underserved youth and families.

Through consistent outdoor engagement, the project aims to increase physical activity, reduce stress, strengthen social connections, and build resilience among participants. By providing meaningful access to nature and supportive mentorship, Take-A-Hike helps children and families develop healthier lifestyles and stronger community connections that extend beyond each hike.

Project Title: Lead the Land Youth Leadership Institute
Project Description:

The Lead the Land Youth Leadership Institute is a two-day immersive leadership and agriculture education retreat designed for middle school youth ages 11–13 (grades 6–8). The program introduces young people to leadership development, teamwork, and agricultural career pathways through hands-on learning and outdoor experiences.

Agriculture plays a vital role in sustaining communities and the national economy, yet many young people have limited understanding of where their food comes from or the wide range of careers connected to land stewardship and food production. Lead the Land addresses this gap by engaging youth early and helping them develop leadership skills while exploring agriculture as a meaningful and impactful career field.

Participants are selected based on interest, leadership potential, and recommendations from educators or community members. The 2026 program will take place June 19–20 at a cabin retreat center where youth will participate in leadership workshops, team-building challenges, agricultural education activities, and collaborative projects that encourage problem-solving and communication skills.

Program activities include leadership exercises, crop and food system education, outdoor learning experiences, and community-building activities such as a movie night and team dessert challenge. These shared experiences foster confidence, friendship, and a deeper connection to land stewardship and responsible leadership.

The program currently serves ten students annually but has the capacity to expand to as many as twenty-five youth with additional funding. Grant support will help cover lodging, transportation, educational materials, staffing and chaperone stipends, meals, and program supplies.

Lead the Land is designed to become an annual youth leadership opportunity with seasonal retreats that reflect different agricultural cycles. By investing in young people during this critical developmental stage, the program helps cultivate leadership, curiosity, and awareness of workforce opportunities while equipping youth with the confidence and skills needed to succeed in school, careers, and community life.

Total Project Budget: 16,250

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): 1. Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation, $10,000 (Potential); 2. Post-program evaluation, participant feedback, and planning for future retreats will occur in July and August 2026.

Project Title: Salisbury Symphony After School Strings Program
Project Description:

The Salisbury Symphony’s After School Strings program bridges a critical educational gap by offering the only opportunity for students in our five-county region to study string instruments. With few public or private schools providing formal strings instruction, this program ensures that children who aspire to play violin, viola, cello, or bass have access to high-quality, affordable music education close to home.

Led by professional symphony musicians and certified educators, students receive weekly group lessons that develop musical literacy, ensemble awareness, and performance confidence. The curriculum emphasizes skill-building and creative expression while nurturing qualities like focus, teamwork, and discipline—all aligned with North Carolina’s arts education standards.

To ensure inclusivity, After School Strings provides instruments, learning materials, and scholarships for families with financial need. Students also have opportunities to perform in local recitals and Symphony events, connecting with professional mentors and experiencing the joy of sharing music with their community.

Since its inception, the program has become a cornerstone of the Salisbury Symphony’s educational mission, reaching dozens of students each semester and inspiring a new generation of young musicians.
