Project Title: Brite Minds Saturday School
Project Description:

Middle school youth in Northwest Indiana experience elevated disciplinary referrals and disengagement, often driven by cultural misunderstanding, limited conflict resolution skill development, and reduced access to structured enrichment opportunities outside of school hours. While schools frequently track detention, suspension, and expulsion data, fewer consistently measure student bonding, belonging, and cross-cultural connection.
A key barrier is the lack of developmentally appropriate CRE instruction delivered in non-school settings where youth conflicts often arise. Brite Minds Peacebuilders addresses this gap by positioning Saturday OST programming as a proactive environment for teaching and practicing solid academic skills and confidence in conflict resolution skills—a necessary aspect for individuals learning and personal growth.
Brite Minds Saturday School will be a hybrid program serving middle school students in grades 4–9. The program integrates structured academic supports in Language Arts, Math and STEM. It includes the use of SEL (social-emotional learning) techniques, conflict resolution education for this volatile age group, leadership development, and responsive service learning/volunteer experiences.
Core CRE components include:
• Non-violent communication skills, peer mediation and collaborative problem-solving
• Conflict de-escalation coupled with SEL (social-emotional learning) techniques
•Regional historical awareness and perspective-taking
• Love of self, community, nation and the world
Evaluation measures will include:
1. Pre- and post-surveys measuring students’ understanding of cultural diversity and shared values
2. Student reflections assessing cultural relevance and fit of CRE strategies
3. Facilitator logs documenting CRE use prior to exclusionary responses
4. Participation and engagement tracking

Project Description:

There are an urgent need for youth and teens to put the guns down in this impoverished, marginalized county of Colquitt, the city of Moultrie, Georgia. Gun violence is indeed a major concern, and it’s unfortunate that there are currently limited to no engaging and preventive resources available. EPIC is motivated and rallying and working diligently to address the concerns of the founder and black people and find meaningful solutions to stop gun violence. We must put an end to youth/teens carrying guns and using them! Gang activity is also on the rise again. EPIC has on-going projects and is doing more than one thing to bring about awareness and changes in marginalized communities: Working with At-Risk youth in impoverished neighborhoods, bringing awareness and tackling (down in the trenches) maternal healthcare, Black youths killing one another, as well as other inequalities as they arises.

Project Title: Young Artists Program (Y.A.P)
Project Description:

We have great participation from performers ages five to eighteen and their parents often help with costumes, sets, props, etc. It provides a creative outlet for the family. Some participants have been training with us for years and some are having their first stage experience. The more seasoned performers are great mentors to the newer actors. These shows attract large audiences of all ages.

In addition to the youth shows we produce, we offer a variety of workshops. We teach the fundamentals of performing on stage, musical theatre and technical theatre training. We offer these workshops at the lowest possible cost and offer full and partial scholarships to students who could not otherwise afford to participate.

In addition to the youth production every year, our young artists also have opportunities to participate in at least one show with an adult cast. This mixed age show has become a favorite for families to participate in together. Our Young Artists also have opportunities to work backstage.

Since the inception of our youth program, we have produced many shows: Charlotte’s Web, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, Alice in Wonderland, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, James and the Giant Peach, The Yellow Boat, Shrek The Musical, Beauty & The Beast, The Little Mermaid, A Wrinkle in Time, The Stinky Cheese Man, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr., Frozen Jr., and Matilda Jr, the Musical, The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition, and The Wizard of OZ. In 2025 we are offering two iconic opportunities for our youth with productions of Beetlejuice Jr. and The Snow Queen.

Geographical Area Served: Our students have come from various States and from all areas of Texas. There are only a few programs that meet the need for developing independent living skills, especially for people with IDD in Texas. Group homes are limited in numbers, and the development of new Medicaid Title XIX ICF-IDD homes was severely limited several years ago. Some Day Habilitation programs offer the living skills that we teach, but they do not provide the experience of residential living. Most available resources are for people who need many more intensive physical, social and intellectual supports than do our students. As we know it, we are the only program of this kind in North Texas.
Age Group To Be Served: AFIL students are adults, between the ages of eighteen and fifty, and have a medical diagnosis of an intellectual and developmental disability.

Project Title: Strong, Smart, Bold Scholarship Support
Project Description:

Girls Incorporated of Tennessee Valley (GITNV) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Founded in 1976, we have a nearly 50-year track record of delivering high-quality, evidence-based programs that empower girls to grow up healthy, educated, and independent. Our vision is a world in which every girl values her whole self, discovers her inherent strengths, and achieves her full potential — a society where all girls have equal opportunities to succeed in their education, careers, and lives.
We serve girls ages 5–14 in Knox, Blount, and Anderson Counties through programming delivered at our main center, in schools, and in partnership with community organizations. Our participants represent a highly vulnerable population facing multiple, intersecting challenges: 52% identify as minorities, 53% come from households earning under $40,000 annually, 61% qualify for free or reduced school meals, and 81% of families require financial assistance to participate in our programs at all. Without that aid, 8 in 10 families simply could not afford to enroll their daughters. Seventy percent of our participants come from female-headed households, and 49% are being raised by single mothers alone — meaning Girls Inc. often serves as a critical safety net for working mothers who need safe, supportive, enriching care for their daughters. Additionally, 32% of our participants have identified medical, behavioral, or learning needs, requiring individualized support and trauma-informed approaches.
