Project Description:

At Eye Care 4 Kids, we believe every child who needs glasses should have them, regardless of socio-economic circumstances . Our mission is to provide professional vision care to low-income, visually impaired children and families.

We recognize the inherent link between vision and education and are dedicated to giving all children the best chance at academic, physical, social, and emotional success.

Sight 4 Success is a campaign designed to make vital vision care services accessible to underserved children with limited financial resources. In coordination with school administrators and community leaders, the "SEE-MORE" Mobile Vision Clinic brings vision care services to schools, community centers, rural areas, and Native American reservations across Utah.

All patients receive a vision screening from a qualified technician, a vision evaluation and eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist, and a quality pair of eyeglasses made in our state-of-the-art optical lab to their exact prescription (when needed). The eyewear package includes new frames with polycarbonate, scratch-resistant corrective lenses and UV coating, and a soft case.

Project Title: Project Outdoor Arena
Project Description:

Our organization seeks funding to construct a safe, dedicated outdoor arena for our Assisted Equine Learning program, which serves children and youth who have experienced trauma, foster care placement, and significant life instability.

The arena will provide a consistent, structured space where participants engage in horsemanship, movement, and relationship building activities that promote emotional regulation, confidence, responsibility, and resilience. Through guided interactions with horses, youth develop life skills such as communication, problem-solving, empathy, and self-discipline, all skills that directly support success in school, relationships, and future employment.

This project supports the whole child by integrating physical activity, experiential education, and social-emotional growth in a nurturing, faith-affirming environment. The arena will allow us to expand access to programming, serve more participants year-round, and reduce barriers for families who could not otherwise afford these services.

By investing in this infrastructure, your foundation will help create a stable, healing environment where vulnerable youth can build strength, purpose, and hope, laying a foundation for healthier outcomes throughout adolescence and into adulthood.

Proposal Information

Today’s Date: 01/30/26
Requested Amount: $10,000

Project Title: Art and STEM Programs for Developmentally Disabled Children
Project Description:

The Bruce Harter Learning Pavilion (BHLP) is a premier early childhood learning and intervention center in Tallahassee, Florida, serving an average of 200+ children annually. BHLP is one of only two programs in Florida’s Capital City offering onsite, integrated therapeutic services—including occupational, speech, music, and physical therapies—for students with developmental or physical delays from infancy through Pre-K. The other provider serves children with severe and complex disabilities. As a result, children with mild to moderate developmental needs—who do not qualify for intensive specialty programs but still require early intervention—would have no appropriate local option without BHLP. By filling this critical gap, BHLP ensures early support for children often overlooked by traditional childcare and public systems. Nearly half of the families we serve qualify as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), making BHLP an indispensable access point for timely, comprehensive care.

Our mission aligns directly with the Hermanowski Foundation’s goal to “improve and transform the lives of children and young adults” by equipping every child to reach their full potential—ensuring children with and without disabilities thrive in a diverse learning environment. We seek support to enhance our specialized STEM and Art classrooms, designed to accelerate developmental milestones through smart, play-based learning. These multisensory environments function as clinical extensions where hands-on activities strengthen motor, cognitive, and social-emotional skills essential for kindergarten readiness.

In our STEM laboratory, children engage in sensory-rich activities that promote problem-solving and logical thinking. The Art classroom provides a therapeutic space for creative expression, improving motor coordination and communication while fostering community. By funding these environments, the Hermanowski Foundation is not simply purchasing supplies—it is investing in a proven early intervention model that helps children overcome developmental delays and build the foundation needed to succeed in inclusive K–12 settings and beyond.

Total Project Budget: $13,500

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): BHLP receives funding from diverse sources to support the overall program. Committed funding includes the Florida Department of Health, Leon County’s Community Human Service Partnership Grant, the Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend, Goodwill Industries – Big Bend’s Round-Up campaign proceeds, in-kind therapy services, volunteer services, and nominal tuition fees. This request supports a one-time enhancement rather than ongoing operations. We are actively fundraising for this project to include potential grant funding—in addition to this request—from the Brabson Family and Chisholm Foundations. BHLP’s long-standing partnerships and infrastructure will allow the organization to sustain the investment over time.

Project Duration: 07/01/2026 – 06/30/2027 (for the year following the grant)
Geographical Area Served: North Florida Big Bend Area: Counties of Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson, and Wakulla

Proposal Information

Today’s Date: 01/29/2026
Requested Amount: $7,500

Project Title: Scholarship Fund
Project Description:

Onward Christian Academy is a hybrid K–12 Christian school serving families across Central Virginia who desire an education that integrates academic excellence, faith formation, and practical life skills. Our mission is to partner with families to raise students who are rooted in Christ, equipped for life, and prepared to serve their communities with integrity and purpose.

The Rooted Access Scholarship Fund exists to ensure that financial hardship does not interrupt a child’s ability to remain in a stable, Christ-centered learning environment. Families seeking Christian education often do so with great intentionality, yet many experience seasons of financial strain due to job transitions, medical expenses, or unexpected life changes. Without support, these challenges can force difficult educational disruptions that impact both academic progress and spiritual formation.

This project will provide targeted, need-based scholarships to students whose families require temporary assistance in order to remain enrolled at Onward Christian Academy. Funds will be used to offset tuition costs for qualifying families, allowing students to continue their education without interruption while maintaining consistency in discipleship, relationships, and learning routines.

Onward Christian Academy has committed $2,500 from internal resources toward this effort and is seeking an additional $7,500 to expand the reach of the fund. Together, these funds will support multiple students during the upcoming academic year through partial scholarships tailored to each family’s situation.

By investing in the Rooted Access Scholarship Fund, the foundation would be directly supporting children and families at a pivotal moment, helping preserve educational stability and fostering long-term growth in character, faith, and confidence. This project reflects our belief that Christian education is not only about academics, but about walking alongside families and students through real life with care, commitment, and hope.

Today’s Date: 1/28/2026
Requested Amount: $10,000.00

Project Title: Community-Powered Literacy in WNC
Project Description:

With support from the Hermanowski Foundation, Read to Succeed Asheville/Buncombe (R2S) will expand access to high-quality books, deepen family engagement, and strengthen early literacy pathways so that more children early in their school journey can thrive academically and socially. R2S is a community-led literacy organization serving children ages 0–5, elementary students, and their families across Asheville and Buncombe County through culturally responsive, evidence-based programming.

The need for early literacy intervention in our community is urgent. Only 65% of children in Asheville City and Buncombe County Schools enter kindergarten meeting state readiness benchmarks, and Black children face the greatest barriers to early reading success. These disparities emerge before kindergarten and, without early and intentional support, widen over time, limiting long-term educational opportunity and well-being.

R2S addresses this need through a multi-tiered literacy approach rooted in classrooms, homes, and community spaces. In Pre-K and early elementary classrooms, trusted Storytime Specialists, respected Black elders and educators deliver weekly, play-based literacy instruction, including interactive dialogic read-alouds and small-group activities. These experiences build phonological awareness, vocabulary, and early comprehension while fostering confidence, joy, and a strong connection to reading. Children engage with books that reflect their identities, reinforcing a sense of belonging and motivation to learn.

Beyond the classroom, R2S equips educators, volunteers, and caregivers with practical tools to support literacy development. Through professional learning, family workshops, culturally relevant book distributions, and community literacy events, R2S reinforces reading as a shared, joyful experience at home and throughout the community.

Together, these strategies strengthen early literacy outcomes and help ensure children have the skills, confidence, and curiosity needed for long-term academic success. We would welcome the opportunity to submit a full proposal and explore alignment with the Hermanowski Foundation’s commitment to improving the lives of children and families.

Requested Amount: $7,500

Project Title: Relationship Based Support Groups for Unsupported Teens
Project Description:

TreeHouse is dedicated to walking alongside overlooked teens who are navigating significant adversity, including poverty, mental health challenges, and unstable home environments. Today, many teens experience school environments marked by bullying and isolation, conditions that make authentic peer support rare. TreeHouse exists to create the opposite. Safe, consistent spaces where teens are protected from judgment, surrounded by care, and supported by both peers and trusted adults.

Recently, 26% of TreeHouse teens reported being the target of bullying at school in the last two weeks. These experiences leave teens feeling isolated, anxious, and unsupported, increasing the risk of depression and disengagement. While teens are surrounded by peers at school, few have access to spaces where vulnerability is welcomed and emotional safety is guaranteed.

TreeHouse Support Groups intentionally fill this gap. At the core of our model is a rare and powerful experience: teens safely sharing their emotions, struggles, and adverse childhood experiences with other teens, without fear of judgment. For many participants, our Support Groups are the only place where peer support is genuine and consistent. Caring adult leaders model empathy, set clear expectations for respect, and ensure every teen feels heard and valued.

Support Groups are fully barrier-free and cost-free to teens and their families. TreeHouse removes logistical and financial barriers by providing free transportation and free meals at every program night. Each Support Group night begins with a shared home-cooked meal, followed by a group activity and a short program focused on topics such as culture, school, and personal development. Teens then break into small groups where they rate their week on a scale of 1 to 10 (no 5’s allowed), name three emotions they’ve felt, and support one another through honest conversation. Through these relationships, teens experience belonging, healing, and hope, often for the first time.
