Project Title: Youth Mental Health Program
Project Description:

Trusted Sources is a collection of front-line mental health advocates dedicated to making a difference. We proactively engage communities by raising awareness, educating, equipping, and empowering. Our goal is critical: to connect families to trustworthy resources early in the intervention process so that they can heal and thrive. Our society faces a mental health crisis, investing billions to fix broken individuals. However, prevention is critical. Trusted Sources focuses on going "upstream" by empowering parents and teenagers to build solid and healthy relationships that deter mental health issues.

Social Media and Internet Safety- We aim to assist parents, educators, and other community influencers in gaining a deep understanding of the inner workings of a young individual’s world by focusing our efforts on the perils and impact of social media. Our partner program is indispensable, particularly for parents of middle schoolers seeking comprehensive insight into the dangers posed by these platforms.

Peer-to-Peer Resiliency Groups- Students are convinced that collaborating to resolve their predicaments is paramount. Nonetheless, they require a secure environment (under reliable guidance) to engage in this endeavor. We assist communities nationwide in establishing these collectives by implementing our comprehensive four-part curriculum, which instills resilience and positions students and parents as catalysts for their healing. Additionally, we offer tailored church and faith-based curricula for our partners.

Tele Mental Health Platform—Trusted Sources is thrilled to collaborate with the Key Foundations Program, which provides accessible and affordable support through proven solutions.

Bridge the Gap- Bridge the Gap is a mental health discussion to highlight trends and early intervention solutions that educate parents and caregivers. We bridge the gap by hosting three different panel discussions, which include: 1: A parent discussion from those who have been through mental health struggles and their lessons learned and strategies, etc., 2: Teenagers and young adults discussion that focuses on how they made a shift in their relationship with their parents that helped restore their relationship and how that bond brought them through this crisis, and 3: Our counselors discuss how they focus on a family-based, trauma-informed care strategy that illuminates the fact that families that are connected are integral to healing any trauma for any members within it.

Requested Amount: 5,000

Project Title: The Campus Expansion Project
Project Description:

The Lighthouse Academy of Fredericksburg (LAF) is a Montessori school that firmly believes every child deserves an education designed to meet their own unique learning patterns. Our accredited high school program allows students with learning challenges to learn at their own pace with an emphasis on hands-on learning activities, group projects, real-life learning applications, and socioemotional development.

Data from the state Department of Education shows that only 46.67% of high school students with Individualized Learning Plans (IEPs) graduated in the 2021-2022 school year, a trend that has gone down compared to the previous year. However, LAF has a 100% graduation rate among all of our students, including those who are receiving adapted learning plans. Without the supportive Montessori environment carefully curated at LAF, these students may otherwise have struggled academically and socially in other programs.

The Lighthouse Academy Campus Expansion Project will be tentatively finished in September 2025. This project will allow us to admit 10 more high school students from the community, host at least 5 community events a year, host sports camps and summer programs for low-income families in the community, and improve the educational resources available to community students receiving adapted learning plans.

The facility will give our adolescent students their own building equipped with 5 classrooms, a student workshop and art center, a theater and basketball facility, and technology such as Smartboards and new class computers. This will also allow us to utilize more classrooms in the main building in order to expand our offerings for younger grades, increasing potential elementary enrollment by up to 30 students.
