Project Title: TBK Complex
Project Description:

Project Goals
TBK is Pine Bluff’s leader in building relationships within our community, with the intention of breaking a community curse. By creating opportunities to embrace student-athletes, they benefit from building connections with teammates, coaches, parents, teachers, adults, and other role models creating a sense of belonging.

Goal 1:
Utilizing grants and donations from organizations and foundations, TBK will create many opportunities for our community. TBK student-athletes will have a healthy body and mind, and develop respect, discipline, and personality. TBK will give the kids of our community a home to not get in trouble and build sportsmanship and leadership skills.

Goal 2:
The physical activity that TBK provides will encourage our youth and adults to get up and stay active while learning and instilling vital values of life. Research has shown the importance of physical activity in children has become even stronger now than ever before because active individuals are less likely to develop high blood pressure, diabetes, colon cancer, obesity, or coronary heart disease later in life. We will not only work to improve our bodies but also benefit our mental health reducing depression and boosting self-esteem and body image to give our young people a sense of belonging.

Goal 3:
We will prepare our student-athletes to take the SAT by equipping them with skills and test taking strategies to improve their score. The class will cover content and strategies for reading, writing, math, and essay writing.

We start in 7th grade and provide resources and techniques to prepare our studentathletes for college by defining their goals, and interest all while understanding college, costs, and planning financially and academically. The earlier you start preparing for college the better chance of getting into a top school of choice will be. Preparation for college and getting the best scores on the standardized admission test should be a continuous effort. Our achievement gap demonstrates the importance of starting early on college preparations so our students will be ready for college and able to gain admission to a school they want to attend.

Tutoring helps strengthen subject comprehension, boost confidence, and builds important life learning skills for students. Our tutoring gives students individualized attention they do not get in the classroom. This helps children who are not challenged enough. It also keeps kids on track during breaks from school. Successful tutoring helps develop study and learning skills that will help set students to become successful their entire lives.

Total Project Budget: 150,000.00

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): With money earned from grants, we will provide a safe environment to come learn, to prep, to educate, and to provide exceptional learning opportunities that advance their mastery of all academic subjects and engage them in the intellectual life of having a higher education. The funds will be used for equipment, training programs, tutoring programs, computers, advertising, supplies and operational costs. This community-built program seeks to employ people that will help tutor, train, mentor, evaluate, and prepare the kids of our program.
