Project Title: Operation Youth Build
Project Description:

Operation Youth Build (OYB) serves over 1000 low income, minority, and at risk youth (6-15 year olds) per year in our facility in St. Louis, Missouri and online now, due to the pandemic. TUAC defines at risk youth as young people that require temporary or ongoing intervention in order to succeed academically. OYB not only tutors’ youth in STEM, A. I., and coding in our facility, but mentors them as well. This program was primarily established to help such youth go on to college or trade school and remain out of gangs and the penal system. OYB functions yearly, while school is in session and during the summer months as a computer camp as well. We at TUAC believe that education is key in making our youth more productive and self-sufficient in their lives and careers. We at TUAC also believe that "it does take a village to raise a child." With everyone in a community doing their part to help mentor and educate our youth, all of our futures will be that much brighter. OYB operates both online as well as in our facility. This grant will help us contract over 500 mentor/tutors that will help our clients in STEM mentorships. OYB operates yearly and renews each fiscal year. The program converts to a summer camp in the summer months. It should also be mentioned that OYB utilizes qualitative and quantitative client entrance and exit survey to assess each yearly class.

The objectives of OYB include, but are not limited to:
1.) Helping our youth excel in STEM, A.I., coding and technology
2.) Aiding to the stability of our families
3.) Helping our youth stay out of the penal system
4.) Helping our youth go on to college/trade school

Project Title: Safe Medication & Journal with the Author
Project Description:

Safe medication and over-the-counter (OTC) Medicine Safety, in my workshops, summer camps, and workshops in health curriculum. Designed specifically for 2nd, 3rd, 4th-5th-and 6th-grade and up students, OTC Medicine Safety offers important age-appropriate lessons with direct connections to Common Core State Standards. Also, help the students with "Journal with the Author" with creative writing with journals of different topics of the curriculums that are offered.
Research shows students begin to self-medicate around 11 years old, unfortunately, when not equipped with the knowledge and information to make safe choices, adolescents may end up doing more harm than good. Medicine errors and misuse of OTC medications result in approximately 10,000 ER visits for kids under 18 each year. As educators, we can reach students during this critical period as they begin to develop their self-care skills. This new program will emphasize to students the importance of using medication only under the supervision of an adult.
