Project Title: Philadelphhia Youth Football Academy’s Community League Program
Project Description:

Throughout our yearly program, our youth participate in a variety of flag football, non-traditional learning, and social enrichment activities. Our youth are prepared to play in organized, soon to be sanctioned games; to test their skill level, build youth binding and a positive sense of belonging. Staff, adults from our site’s surrounding area, serve as coaches and mentors. In return, the positivity from our program is returned to our communities. Our youth participate in their area’s community engagement activities; thus shining a positive light on them, our coaches/staff and our organization.

The Dick Sporting Goods Foundation donation totaled $2000 (November 2022). We also received $2000 grant from the Dicks Sporting Goods Foundation, a $3000 from the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Recreation, a $1500 from the Alston Beech Foundation and a $5000 grant from the XPrize Racial Justice Fund. In 2023, our organization received a $1000 from the Dolfinger-McMahon Foundation, $1000 grant from the Wawa Foundation and a $1200 from the Foundation of Health Equity Foundation. Our Summer Camp earned $5400 in revenue. Youth offender rates throughout the state are consistently on the rise, according to a report issued by the (MDHS) Mississippi Department of Human Services. Most youth offenders are between 9-19 years old and within the age range of our Bridge program for 10-18 years of age. We are preventing the status quo and refuse to turn our youth away; our program will be enhanced to reduce recidivism.
Our youth program “The Bridge” has proven to be an effective template for increasing self-confidence and the implementation of additional life managing skills. The training and structure provided in our study sessions, professional tutoring and career preparation workshops are available for students of all ages. This program offers concentration to the at-risk youth but is open to all students, our methods can be utilized by youth of diverse backgrounds and proven to be beneficial to individuals of all ages. We focus on the total care of our youth and extend services that will allow them to expand their goals to help realize their dreams. Our program presents opportunities and training for youth to become positively productive citizens in society. The vision is for every student to be a well-established contributor to the community. We promote bonding, confidence and self-determination on every level allowing prospective improvement and growth with projected achievements.
