Cady Heron may have grown up on an African Savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady and her friends devise a “Revenge Party” to end Regina’s reign, Cady learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung. Adapted from Book Writer Tina Fey’s hit 2004 film, Mean Girls was nominated for a staggering 12 Tony Awards on Broadway.

REHEARSALS will occur every Saturday from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm for FULL CAST and every Thursday from 6:15 to 9:30 pm for smaller scenes and groups. You must be available to schedule both days of rehearsal if needed. A more detailed Final Rehearsal Schedule will be provided.

Project Title: Life Skills Program
Project Description:

Fresh Start for Children and Families is requesting funding to support our Life Skills Program, specifically to provide vital counseling services for the children entering our program. These funds will ensure that children receive the support they need at no cost to them, helping them navigate the trauma and challenges of homelessness.

We recognize the deep impact that instability has on a child’s emotional and mental well-being. Many of the children who come to Fresh Start have experienced significant hardship, and without proper counseling, their ability to heal and thrive is greatly affected. Through our partnership with Beyond Expectations, we provide on-site counseling in the comfort of their own home or at our Family Center. This creates a safe, supportive environment where both children and mothers can begin their healing journey.

At Fresh Start, we believe in restoring hope and rebuilding lives. Our mission is to help families achieve long-term self-sufficiency by providing safe housing, life skills training, and resources for success. Counseling is a key part of this mission, giving children and their mothers the tools they need to overcome past trauma and build a better future.

With this funding, we can continue to provide these essential services and give children the stability and support they deserve. Together, we can break the cycle of homelessness and create lasting change for families in Okaloosa County.

Project Title: Baltimore City Law Links Internship
Project Description:

The goals of Law Links are twofold: to provide meaningful summer employment that introduces youth to law-related careers and to equip them with workforce skills that set them on a path to success. Early work experiences, like those provided by Law Links, are critical for long-term positive outcomes, including higher graduation rates, improved employment prospects, and increased lifetime earnings. For many participants, this is their first exposure to a professional work environment.

Law Links includes the 50-hour Law & Leadership Institute, which begins with a 2.5-day orientation and continues weekly at the University of Maryland Carey School of Law. Guided by The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Stephen Covey), interns develop both personal and professional skills that serve as a foundation for future success.

This program fills a critical need in Baltimore City, where structured summer activities significantly increase graduation rates and college acceptances. The full-time internship and accompanying Institute offer students the chance to explore career options, build a professional network, and develop habits and skills for lifelong success.

With your support, MYLaw can continue to empower Baltimore’s youth, connecting them to valuable opportunities and equipping them with tools to thrive in their future endeavors.

Hope Clubhouse offers members the opportunity to learn skills in business, culinary and horticulture, while also providing assistance to those who wish to seek gainful employment or to pursue further education.

We strongly believe that young adults (ages 18 to 21), who have been diagnosed with a mental illness, will benefit from being part of this community of support. Further, young adults, in general, will be energized and excited to continue pursuit of education at the next level or gainful employment.

Our Employment program unit will assist young adults (and all members) in developing their education goals and finding the proper learning institutions to fit their needs. As well, the unit will assist in creating their resumes and mock interview simulations.

The program will include developing partnerships with local youth organizations and schools to educate their older children (up to age 18) on the benefits of the Clubhouse. We want to be that next level of support.

Proposal Information

Today’s Date: 1/29/35
Requested Amount: $4,500

Project Title: Student Instrument Supply Fund
Project Description:

Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) is the nonprofit parent organization for 60+ out-of-school programs for children ages 8 and up in seven states. As the acronym suggests, JAM is a place-based model of arts education providing small group instruction in traditional mountain music and dance to kids. JAM provides communities with the tools and support they need to teach children to play and dance to traditional old time and bluegrass music.

Instruments

Newly developed JAM programs are eligible for student model instruments common to Appalachian string music (banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, dulcimer, and more) provided by JAM, Inc. The instruments are provided at no cost to the affiliate and students enrolled in JAM are able to take instruments home while they are enrolled. In the past, JAM, Inc. has been able to guarantee twelve instruments per program, and sometimes additional instruments as requested if supply allows. The instruments we distribute to affiliated programs are in part provided by a partnering organization, Hungry For Music, individual instrument donations and a small amount of new instruments through wholesale or special discount purchase, such as through a new partnership with instrument company Recording King. Currently, our instrument supplies are very low due to the number of communities interested in developing JAM programs, and the need to replace instruments post natural disaster. The enthusiasm around new program development is exciting and testifies to the need for these programs in rural communities. We have no full size fiddles/violins and very few banjos. It is a goal for JAM, Inc to eventually be able to guarantee all the instruments needed for each newly established program, which is typically around 20-30 instruments. Funding would support this initiative, and instruments are able to be used for years on a recycled basis.
