Project Title: Summer Reading Challenge
Project Description:

The Summer Reading Challenge will serve up to 30 youth ages 8-13 years old. It will promote literacy in underprivileged neighborhoods of Sacramento, CA. The goal is to have each youth read at least 6 books during the summer. We want to continue to promote literacy skills, self-confidence, and a love of reading. The impact of our Summer Reading Program is to prevent summer slide. It is valuable to students that don’t get to read or do little reading during the Summer. We will encourage them that reading can become a lifelong habit. It will not only have a positive impact on the youth, but it will also reach the parents and others in their families which can help underserved communities with summer slide. The challenge will include virtual weekly check-ins and monthly in-person meetings. Youth will read diverse books and have an opportunity to win prizes.

Project Title: Youth Empowerment: Lunch-n-Learn Program
Project Description:

Our mission is to empower underserved, high-risk and/or at-risk youth through our Youth Empowerment:Lunch-n-Learn Program.
We are dedicated to fostering a safe and nurturing environment where young individuals can develop essential life skills, cultivate resilience, and embrace positive decision-making
Through mentorship, education, guidance, inspiration and community engagement, we aim to equip these youth with the tools and confidence needed to transform their lives, break free
from the cycle of violence, and become advocates for a brighter and violent- free future!
We strive to change the potentially negative future of underprivileged, high-risk and/or at-risk youth into a more
positive opportunity to become successful in the future as well as becoming reliable and productive members of society!
We help fight against malnutrition, poor academic ratings and future unemployment rates as well helping steer our youth away
from joining gang(s)/related activities.
Attending our Youth Empowerment: Lunch-n-Learn Program teaches our youth the importance of community service and giving back, proper nutrition, academic achievement, to
underprivileged youth through our critical thinking/conflict resolution’s workshops.
We believe that broadening our youth’s views on academic success and positive guidance, life skills and the importance of proper nutrition will essentially help our youth become capable, responsible, healthier and successful adults of our future!
With your(s), our(s) and the help of the community, we are confident that we are/will be reducing youth related violence, as well as the undernourishement rate for disadvantaged children, while assisting children with learning self-discovery and find
ways to express their wants, needs and feelings as well as
teaching children new ways of staying on a more disciplined pathway using our critical thinking strategies and techniques!
Before the start of each Y. E. Program, our children participate in
our "Community Clean-up Initiative" – Where we clean up trash and debris from the park/play area and then feed the patrons that call Dixon Park home while participating in our "Everybody Eats Initiative"- Where we give out free lunch to impoverished
individuals who live in/visit Dixon Park.
We re-donate any unused donations to the local, Old Savannah Mission so that waste is Never an issue!
Helping the community by teaching our children the importance of giving back because it fosters a sense of responsibility, instills empathy and provides positive alternatives, reducing the likelihood of involvement in violence in the future!
