Project Title: Arts to Infinity
Project Description:

In this Letter of Interest you will learn of the Arts to Infinity programs and how RSA collaborates with local organizations to provide creative outlets for at-risk youth. There are a significant amount of youth in our community that are in need of a creative outlet to help foster their social and emotional development. In 2023, we serviced over 465 students through programs on site and at partnering locations. What makes us unique is that there is no other fine arts programming within a 10 mile radius that offers quality instruction and experiential learning. We are providing a solution to the geographic barriers that our students would have to face trying to commute to Houston’s arts district or affluent suburbs. The primary activities that we provide are dance and theater, however we partner with visual and music companies to provide students with the full performance arts experience. On weekends they explore college tours, unique performance opportunities and participate in workshops that focus on health and wellness. Our programs are strategically placed in underserved neighborhoods to plant seeds of possibility. We are committed to making sure that they grow by 1) creating a safe space for young learners to grow into leaders, 2) presenting unique arts education opportunities through Arts to Infinity. Our proposal requests $10,000 in funding to support the expansion of Arts To Infinity housed at The Hiram Clarke Multi Purpose Center. This funding will allow us to offer an 8 week program that is free of charge and open to the public. We look forward to partnering with you to amplify our youth community-based programs at RSA!

Proposal Information

Today’s Date: Jan 16, 2024
Requested Amount: 10.000

Project Title: ECM Performance Arts Program Community Program
Project Description:

Experience Community Development Corporation seeks funding to implement a
healing space in the heart of southeast LA. The Healing Space is designed to promote health and well-
being by engaging youth in (1) arts activities that are designed to promote self-expression and storytelling.
The Healing Space (HS) is designed to offer low-barrier-to-entry programming that allows community
members to address mental health and well-being concerns in a manner comfortable to them.
Key offerings include:
Arts Programming: Outcome-focused arts programming will be offered each quarter, with opportunities
for youth and young adults to explore, experiment, and seek. Rather than offer workshops that last the full
year, programming will be “chunked” into mini-workshops so that participants have flexibility and
opportunities to try different programming. For example, rather than launch 12 months of music
production, participants can join a 7-week workshop on “Songwriting and Production.” These
low barrier to entry activities will be engaging and focused on positive self-expression through the arts.
For some participants, this approach feels “safer” than having a group where explicit conversations
about healing feel too vulnerable. The goal is to provide an array of opportunities that meet participants in their emotional and psychological comfort zone. We are starting this program in 2024 as a yearly program moving forward.
